Continuing Education: The Path to Success

Program Overview

AFIP isn’t just a one-time source for the regulations relevant at the time you test; we’re a continuing education program that helps you grow as you ply your trade.

AFIP Certified F&I Professionals must periodically certify at increasingly difficult levels to maintain their individual membership in AFIP and their certification status. With each successive course (Basic, Senior, then Master), you’ll learn about the new laws that have passed and regulations that have been updated since your previous certification, and increase your understanding of legal statutes, best practices and ethical standards in F&I, regardless of which program of study you follow.

Basic Certification Course*

The Basic Certification Course is the first level of your AFIP Certification curriculum. Your Basic Course materials give you detailed explanations of the state and federal laws that affect F&I practitioners and a primer on ethical conduct in the F&I office. Basic Certification lasts for two years, at which point you must move to the Senior level to maintain your certification and individual membership in AFIP.

The second level of the AFIP Certification Program is the Senior Certification Course. As a Senior candidate, your study materials will update you on new and revised laws and expand your understanding of the state and federal laws you already learned. Additionally, you’ll devise a personal code of ethical conduct using the Applied Ethics Workbook that comes with your materials. Senior Certification lasts for three years, at which point you must move to the Master level to maintain your certification and individual membership in AFIP.

Master Certification Course – Coming Soon!

The Master Certification Course, expected to release sometime in 2009, is the third and final tier of the AFIP Certification Program. Candidates will update and expand their knowledge of the federal and state regulations applicable to F&I and the ethical guidelines AFIP Certified F&I Professionals must follow. Upon passing the three-part final exam, candidates will be required to complete a short quarterly online review for the duration of their membership in AFIP to maintain certification status.
