David N. Robertson is the executive director of the Association of Finance & Insurance Professionals, an organization he co-founded in 1989 to support the in-dealership F&I process. AFIP’s primary member benefit is the NADA- and NIADA-recommended AFIP Certification Program (a continuing education program addressing federal regulations and ethical practices).
Mr. Robertson is the co-designer of the popular Safeguards Rule Compliance Kit, which gives dealerships a complete and inexpensive method for compliance with the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, and the F&I Manager’s Guide to the Red Flags Rule, a similar program for Red Flags Rule compliance. As an advocate for F&I-related issues, Mr. Robertson works as an expert witness and industry consultant. He is widely published and frequently quoted in the trade and popular press. He has appeared on 20/20 and MSNBC, and has been a guest on a number of radio programs.
Mr. Robertson is a graduate of Fort Lewis College. He has been married for over 35 years, has three children and three grandchildren, and he divides his personal time between Colleyville, Texas, and Durango, Colorado.
